Another week, another photo of food! Heh, this is another WeightWatchers recipe actually - cous cous crusted salmon. It was lovely, even more so because I didn’t have to cook it! Thank god Pete quite enjoys cooking, he can never rely on me to actually want to cook. Almost makes up for the fact that he clearly believes there is indeed a wash fairy who comes and whisks away all his dirty clothes during the day when he’s at work, and replaces them with nice clean specimens…

In other news work have decided to put me on a course. I was completely torn about whether to do it or not, but I figured since I have nothing else lined up at the moment, work-wise, it wouldn’t hurt to do it. Started today and I think it’s going to be a really interesting course.  It was a fairly typical first session, but it feels good to be learning again… even if the thought of assignments makes me cringe inside. (For the record, I’m not actually that bad at essays and the like, it’s just I am a very skilled procrastinator and always leave these things to the last minute. But hey, here’s to maybe changing my style this time! Maybe I just needed to be a bit more mature.) (Ha.) (HAHAHAHA.)

Yesterday morning I got a text from Pete informing me that he’d purchased a Wii Deluxe Bundle (Wii Sports, Wii Play, MarioKart, Guinness World Records plus nunchuck, remote and MK wheel) and a Wii Fit. This wasn’t an entirely unprecedented decision given that we’ve been talking about getting one for nearly a year now, but something has always come up to divert our money away. Driving lessons, festivals, cars. But now there is no reason for us not to get one, so Pete clearly decided it was about time we did. Fun!

And this morning it arrived! Now that’s impressive service. We haven’t played on it much yet obviously, but so far so good! I’ve only had a couple of minor meltdowns because I CAN’T DO IT, WAHHH. Hopefully I’ll get better at everything with a bit of practise!

The roads are mostly clear, but there is still a little bit of snow left:

That’s the sort of combination I like! The snow was coming down really heavily when I was having breakfast, so I was so glad it had stopped by the time I had to drive.

Can’t believe this is one of the only photos I’ve taken of the snow though, silly me.

Hey, remember when I said it never ever ever snows down here? Guess what happened?! Snoooow! I stayed up pretty late last night, and just as I was getting ready to go to bed I glanced out the window only to see everything covered in white. I completely missed the point when it was actually snowing, it was like the ground had suddenly grown a load of soft white grass. It was pretty awesome, especially because it was completely untouched.

Today the snow has continued, but I don’t think it’s sticking anymore. Boooo. It’s been fun to stay indoors all day though, just watching it fall. Pete was supposed to be in the office this morning, but decided not to even try!

I do find it quite mental that there are four and five year olds - probably even older kids - who live round here, who’ve never seen snow in their lives. MENTAL. It doesn’t help the incessant restless feeling I’ve had for the past month or so. The feeling that I just want to move somewhere new, somewhere different. When I first moved over here I hated it, but I think I’ve almost made my peace here now. A good job, good friends and making memories here helps I guess. Nevertheless I don’t think either of us want to stay here forever. But I’m happy here for the moment, restless feelings come and go, I have to remember that.

Homemade soup - enough for at least a week’s worth of lunches, nice and thick just as I like it, and no points! Good stuff.

Finally, finally we went swimming tonight. The last time we went swimming (properly) was six months ago. I was anticipating pain, but it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. My leg muscles were burning by the end, but in a good way. It’s always a case of having to drag ourselves there, but once we’re there and doing it’s fine. And I feel so much better for it afterwards. Let’s hope we can keep it up.

I’ve put on a stone in the last twelve months. Add that on to the fact that I was probably already about a stone overweight and… well, not good. So I think it’s back to counting points again. We did WeightWatchers a couple of years ago and - combined with swimming twice a week - it really worked. Tomorrow I’m going to dig out my old points journal and start counting everything again. Swimming twice a week will do for now, but ultimately I’d quite like to add more exercise in. I don’t know what yet. Running, aqua fit, aerobics… it all sounds appealing, I guess I’ve just got to find what’s best for me. I’d also like Wii Fit, but nowhere has them in stock at the moment. Still, small steps.

Laaaazy day.

Cooked a rather awesome vegetable Thai curry, if I do say so myself. Secret ingredient: peanut butter. Mmm.

It’s Saturday night. That means my weekend has begun. I think that right there is enough to smile about! I have absolutely no plans - no exciting plans, anyway - but who cares? An excess of reading, sleeping and telly sounds good to me!

Making me happy today - curry buffets and not having to cook.

That is all.

Ahh, there is something so very satisfying about completing a job - and doing it fairly well, if I do say so myself!
